The Australia UAE Business Council is pleased to announce the appointment of His Excellency Dr Fahad Altaffag, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the Commonwealth of Australia, to its esteemed Advisory Board.
Dr Altaffag brings a wealth of experience and a distinguished service record to the Council. Prior to his current role, he served as the UAE Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Director of the African Affairs Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the Director of Economic and Trade Affairs.
Other notable positions held by Dr Altaffag include managing the Special Projects Department at the Tawazun Economic Council, and senior management roles in the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation and Dubai Municipality.
Dr Altaffag’s accolades include the Distinction Order by HH Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in February 2017, the Middle East Award for the Future Distinctive Leader in June 2014, the Jordan Business Council Award for Academic Excellence in 2010, and the HH Sheikh Rashid Award for Scientific Distinction in 2000 and 2019.
The Hon Christopher Pyne, Co-Chair of the Council, welcomed Dr Altaffag’s appointment, stating, “We are honored to welcome Dr Altaffag to our Advisory Board. His extensive experience and leadership in international diplomacy and economic affairs will significantly contribute to our mission of deepening bilateral trade and investment between Australia and the UAE.”
In accepting his position on the Advisory Board, Dr Altaffag commented, “I look forward to engaging in productive discussions with members and to contribute meaningfully to the Council’s initiatives in advancing the interests of both UAE and Australian businesses.”
