The Australia UAE Business Council proudly endorses the landmark trade agreement announced between Australia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), marking a significant advancement in bilateral economic relations.
The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) is set to unlock substantial new opportunities for Australian exporters and investors in the Middle East, while reinforcing the UAE as a key gateway for Australian business in the region.
The Hon Christopher Pyne, Australia Co-Chair of the Australia UAE Business Council, emphasised the transformative potential of the agreement, stating, “This trade agreement with the United Arab Emirates will be a game changer for Australia’s exports into the Middle East. It is of vital strategic importance for our country to partner with the UAE, and it presents enormous opportunities for further investment here in Australia. The Government has done a good thing opening up this exciting market for Australian exporters.”
Two-way trade and investment between Australia and the UAE reached $30.5 billion in 2023, underlining the importance of this strategic relationship. The UAE is Australia’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and North Africa, with Australian exports spanning agriculture, financial services, advanced manufacturing, and technology. This new agreement not only strengthens existing ties but also creates pathways for expanding cooperation in emerging sectors such as renewable energy, health technology, and digital services.
The Australia UAE Business Council views this development as a significant step forward in deepening bilateral trade, investment, and strategic collaboration. The agreement is expected to further accelerate growth in key sectors, including agriculture, services, and high-tech industries, while offering Australian businesses unparalleled access to one of the most dynamic economies in the world.
As part of its mission, the Australia UAE Business Council will continue to support its members by providing valuable networking opportunities and insights to navigate the evolving market landscape. By fostering closer ties between Australian and Emirati businesses, the Council is committed to promoting sustainable economic growth and bilateral cooperation.
The Council commends the Australian Government for its leadership in securing this comprehensive trade agreement, which will pave the way for stronger economic and strategic partnerships between Australia and the UAE.
